April 2026
Volume 2 | Issue 4
As April unfolds, I find myself reflecting on something that has been quietly shaping my understanding of wellness—something that doesn’t always reveal itself at first glance.
In the conversations I’ve had and the stories I’ve been invited into, I continue to see that wellness doesn’t always look the way we’ve been taught to expect. It isn’t always found in routines, progress, or measurable outcomes. Sometimes, it’s found in the quiet strength it takes to keep going, in the grace we offer ourselves, and in the deeply personal ways we navigate life’s most difficult seasons.
There’s a subtle shift that happens when we begin to look beyond the surface—when we move from observing to truly seeing. We start to recognize that wellness is not one-dimensional. It lives in the body, yes—but also in the mind, the heart, and the spirit. It’s present in movement and in rest, in resilience and in surrender, in holding on and in letting go.
This month’s reflection is an invitation to pause and consider what wellness might look like beyond the expectations we’ve carried. To notice where strength already exists. To extend grace where it’s needed. And to allow space for a more honest, more human experience of well-being.
Because perhaps wellness isn’t about becoming something new…
But about seeing what has been there all along.
Rethinking What Wellness Looks Like
“Wellness doesn’t always look the way we’ve been taught to expect it to.”
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on my experiences with connecting to others. The more time I dedicate to truly listening to their stories and engaging on a deeper level, the more I’m reminded that wellness doesn’t always look the way we’ve been taught to expect it to. Sometimes, it’s found in the quiet moments of understanding, the genuine empathy we extend, and the small, often unnoticed acts of kindness. It’s a reminder that wellness is a personal journey, uniquely experienced by each individual.
I’ve encountered individuals who, by traditional measures—things like pace, appearance, or performance—might not reflect what we often associate with wellness. Yet, when you take a closer look, you discover qualities and stories that reveal an entirely different reality.
The Strength We Don’t Always See
“That simple act speaks volumes—many may never truly understand what it took.”
I remember a woman who lost her son. She has been running for years—not for speed or competition—but as something deeply meaningful to her. And now, in the midst of unimaginable loss, it has become a way to navigate her grief and find some solace, caring for her mental and emotional well-being in a way that feels meaningful to her. She once shared that she ran a 15-minute mile pace one day. And I couldn’t help but think… she ran. Not for time or comparison, but for something far deeper. That simple act speaks volumes—many may never truly understand what it took for her to take those steps.
I also witnessed another woman facing profound health challenges—her body marked by surgeries, her future uncertain. Yet, each day, she shows up—with faith that sustains her, honesty about her struggles, courage in the face of adversity—and she lifts others up amid their own difficult seasons. In doing so, she reflects a depth of spiritual and emotional wellness that reaches far beyond physical condition. Not flawlessly. Not effortlessly. But with unwavering consistency, embodying resilience and compassion in every step.
A More Human Definition of Wellness
“Perhaps true wellness isn’t about doing more, but about seeing more…”
And it caused me to pause, prompting reflection on a question we often overlook: Who truly defines what wellness should look like? Is it a number on a scale, a pace tracked on a watch, or a perfectly curated routine? Or is it something quieter and more personal—something more human?
Wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all; it takes many forms. It can live in how we care for our bodies, how we navigate our thoughts and emotions, how we support one another, and how we hold onto faith in uncertain seasons.
Sometimes it’s about movement, other times about rest. It might be about holding on during difficult seasons or simply giving ourselves the grace to get through the day. Recognizing this is essential because each person’s journey to wellness is unique and deeply personal.
I’ve been reflecting on this deeply, especially through the lens of my own faith. What continues to return to me is the profound power of grace—something that surpasses perfection or comparison. It’s about extending grace to ourselves and to others, recognizing our shared humanity.
Perhaps true wellness isn’t about doing more, but about seeing more… seeing the effort, the courage, and the humanity present in each person’s journey, even when it looks different from our own. It’s a gentle reminder to approach one another with compassion, understanding, and an open heart.
Things I’m Loving Lately: A Simple Ritual for Seasonal Wellness
During my training for 29029, I went through more electrolyte options than I can count, trying to find something that not only supported my body but was actually enjoyable—especially on long, hot training days.
LMNT quickly became the one I consistently came back to.
Since then, they’ve introduced a sparkling version, and it has become a bit of a game-changer for me. I keep a few in the refrigerator for when I get back from a long hike or run—it’s one of those small things that helps me feel more refreshed and supported as I recover.
Each can contains a thoughtful balance of electrolytes—sodium, potassium, and magnesium—without added sugar or caffeine, which aligns well with how I approach daily wellness.
Grapefruit Salt is my personal favorite.
Use it only if it aligns with your needs and your season of life — no pressure, truly. I will never share anything that I don’t personally use and deeply believe in.
This Month’s Reflection
Set aside a quiet moment—even just a few breaths—and gently ask yourself:
“Where might I be measuring my wellness in a way that no longer serves me?”
Sit with whatever comes up. There’s no need to judge it or change it right away—just notice.
Where have expectations—your own or those shaped by the world around you—quietly influenced how you define progress, strength, or well-being?
And where might there be space to see yourself with a little more grace?
Wellness isn’t always found in what we can measure or improve. Sometimes, it lives in how we care for ourselves in the midst of what we’re carrying… in how we continue to show up… in how we allow ourselves to simply be.
You don’t have to redefine everything at once. You simply begin by noticing—with honesty, with compassion, and with a willingness to see yourself more fully.
Because sometimes the most meaningful shift isn’t in what you do…
but in how you choose to see.
